Breaks

1. What a break is
A break, or time-out, is a short, voluntary pause from playing on lotoguebec. Unlike self-exclusion, which is designed for longer periods, a break is a quick way to put some distance between you and the games when you feel you have played enough for now. It is a normal, healthy habit, not a sign that anything is wrong, and it is always free to use.
2. Choosing your time-out
When you activate a break, you choose how long it lasts, typically from 24 hours up to several weeks. During that period, you cannot place wagers or join draws, and we pause promotional messages so nothing pulls you back before you are ready. You can still sign in to view your account and your history; only play is suspended. Pick the length that feels right; you can always start another break later.
3. How to take a break
Taking a break is quick and reversible only by time, not by impulse. Sign in, open your account, choose Take a break, select the duration and confirm. The time-out starts right away. When it ends, your account simply returns to normal; there is no penalty and nothing to reclaim. If you decide partway through that you want more time off, you can extend the break or move to a longer self-exclusion.
4. Making breaks a habit
Regular short breaks are one of the simplest ways to keep play in perspective. Step away when you are tired, frustrated or tempted to chase a loss, and never play to escape stress. A break gives the odds, which never change from one draw to the next, time to lose their pull on a tired mind. If you find it hard to stop, that is worth paying attention to, and longer tools are available.
5. If you need more
If a short break is not enough, the Self-Exclusion page lets you take a longer, more structured period away from play, and the Gambling Limits page lets you cap deposits, spending and time. Whenever you need to talk, free, confidential and bilingual help is available 24 hours a day across Quebec through Jeu : aide et référence at 1-800-461-0140.
